Environmental Initiatives

We promote corporate activities that are environmentally friendly and work in harmony with the local community.
ASTI conducts company-wide environmental conservation activities based on the "ASTI Environmental Policy".
By fiscal year 2023, all our domestic factories had obtained the International Environmental Management Standard ISO 14001. At each site, every employee actively engages in initiatives to achieve zero emissions, reduce energy consumption, and promote recycling. In addition, we have made concrete progress toward the complete elimination of lead-based solder. We also focus on coexistence with local communities through activities such as regional cleanup efforts and participating in environmental conservation events.
Moving forward, we will continue to promote green procurement and introduce Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), establishing a flexible system that can respond to the environmental policies of our business partners. Through these efforts, we aim to reduce environmental impact and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.

Head Office Factory:
Installation of Portable Battery Storage System (September 2025)

We have introduced a “portable battery storage system” equipped with our in-house developed control technology that stores electricity generated by solar panels and can also serve as an emergency power source during disasters. During the day, the system automatically switches to solar power generation, while at night it switches to commercial power (AC 100V). The stored electricity is also utilized for lighting in meeting rooms and vending machines.

Note: The battery used is the “MPP (Mobile Power Pack)” manufactured by Honda Motor Co., Ltd.

Hamamatsu Factory:
Designed as a Zero-Emission Factory (May 2023)

Aiming to realize a low-carbon society, we have implemented the following environmentally friendly facilities:
  • Installed 1,404 solar panels on the rooftop (power generation capacity: 442 kW)
  • Collected rainwater to reuse in watering trees
  • Utilized green walls to block direct sunlight and stabilize indoor temperatures
  • Installed hybrid streetlights powered by wind and solar energy
  • Set up EV vehicle charging stations
Through these initiatives, we have created a next-generation factory that achieves both energy efficiency and comfort.

Shizuoka Green Electricity

For electricity that cannot be fully supplied by solar power generation, we use “Shizuoka Green Electricity” provided by Chubu Electric Power Miraiz Co., Ltd., ensuring that CO₂ emissions associated with electricity consumption in our manufacturing processes are reduced to zero.

Kakegawa Factory:
Installation of Solar Power Generation System (June 2013)

A new 200 kW solar power generation system has been installed, producing approximately 250,000 kWh annually. This is expected to reduce about 58,000 liters of oil consumption and approximately 80,000 kg of CO₂ emissions annually. The power generation status can be continuously monitored on a display in the lobby.

Head Office Factory and Miyakoda Factory:
Installation of Environmentally Friendly Equipment Utilizing Solar Power (February 2007)

  • Head Office Factory: Solar panels are installed on the east side of the exterior wall to supply power to lighten the ASTI sign.

  • Miyakoda Factory: Electricity stored from solar panels is used for nighttime lighting. In case of emergencies, power can be drawn from a 100V outlet to charge mobile devices and other equipment.

Fukuroi Factory:
Operation of Solar Power Generation System (January 2006)

Since January 2006, the Fukuroi Factory has been operating a solar power generation system. Solar modules measuring 15 meters wide by 4.4 meters deep have been installed in the front yard on the south side of the factory, generating enough electricity to cover approximately 13% of the factory’s lighting needs. This contributes to reducing oil consumption and CO₂ emissions.
The power generation status can be monitored in the lobby.

Environmental Conservation Activities

Promoting sustainable environmental conservation together with the local community.
We are committed to supporting local communities, with each employee actively involved in environmental conservation activities. Through community-rooted initiatives such as “Baby Sea Turtle Release Activities” and “Coastal Conservation Activities,” we strive to coexist with nature and pass on a sustainable environment to future generations.

Baby Sea Turtle Release Activities

Employees participate in sea turtle release events held on local beaches. While watching the hatchlings make their journey to the sea, they experience firsthand the importance of marine environmental conservation and are committed to passing this awareness on to future generations.

Coastal Conservation Activities

In coastal areas impacted by activities such as the use of four-wheeler vehicles, we continuously make efforts to protect the local natural environment by stacking sandbags filled with sand and seeds of Japanese sedge (Carex kobomugi). This promotes the accumulation of sand and the regeneration of coastal plant communities.

Sand Dune Cleanup Activities

To preserve the beautiful natural environment for future generations, we conduct regular cleanup activities on sand dunes and beaches. Each employee maintains a strong environmental awareness and continues to engage in efforts to protect the local & natural surroundings.
